Mobile catering has taken a giant leap toward zero-emission retailing as Crewe-based specialist manufacturer Whitby Morrison introduced the world’s first fully certified, purpose-built electric ice cream van.
Built from the chassis up on a factory-fresh Mercedes-Benz eSprinter cab, this platform completely avoids the pitfalls of aftermarket retrofits.
Having passed the UK’s rigorous Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) testing, the street-legal unit offers up to a 274-mile range and a 4.25-tonne MAM payload, allowing operators to run quiet, zero-emission trading in restricted low-emission zones, city parks, and major event arenas without noisy diesel idling.
The maiden production vehicle has officially been handed over to historic operator Hocking’s of North Devon.
