A new report has suggested that smaller haulage operators are struggling to access the UK’s plug-in truck grant, with larger fleets soaking up much of the available funding.
The concern is understandable. The average UK operator runs only a handful of vehicles, while the biggest fleets have the buying power, procurement teams and infrastructure to move quickly when grants appear.
Yes, some smaller operators may be missing out, but large fleets adopting electric trucks at scale is also helping accelerate the market, build confidence and create second-hand opportunities further down the line.
And perhaps most importantly, the economics are improving faster than many realise:
