A panel discussion at the ACT Expo in the US suggested commercial fleets are increasingly moving away from buying EVs for sustainability reasons, and focusing instead on economics, resilience and operational performance.
Hasn’t that always been the point?
Fleet operators don’t buy vehicles to make a statement. They buy them because:
- They reduce operating costs
- Improve efficiency
- Protect against fuel volatility
- And increasingly make commercial sense
The discussion highlighted a growing maturity in the market. The businesses successfully deploying EVs at scale are the ones taking total cost of ownership (TCO) seriously and integrating electrification strategically.
