Over in Australia, a simple stat tells a very big story.
Switch one million petrol cars to EVs, and the country could cut fuel imports by one billion litres per year.
That’s not just decarbonisation, that’s geopolitics.
As highlighted in The Guardian, Australia’s heavy reliance on imported fuel leaves it exposed. EVs, powered by domestically generated electricity, offer a way to bring that dependency back home.
But, and it’s a big but, the infrastructure and energy mix still need work. Coal remains a major part of the grid, and charging rollout isn’t yet where it needs to be.
