There’s fresh funding on the table for fleets looking to electrify, with new support announced for plug-in van and truck depot infrastructure.
The grants aim to ease one of the biggest blockers to fleet transition: getting power where it’s actually needed, back at base.
Because while public charging grabs headlines, the reality for most fleets is simple: If it doesn’t work at the depot, it doesn’t work at all.
The funding is a welcome step, but there’s a catch, tight timelines and complexity mean many operators could still miss out.
Layer in ongoing skills shortages (a quick nod to the IMI conversation), and it’s clear the challenge isn’t just money, it’s delivery, planning and capability.
From The EV Café sofa:
Support is improving… but fleets need clarity, speed and people on the ground to turn funding into real infrastructure.
“We’ve got to make this easier, otherwise people just won’t do it".
